On August 22, Phan Chau Trinh University (PCTU) organized a professional seminar “Liquid biopsy in oncology: A new perspective in non-invasive screening and diagnosis” with the participation of lecturers, medical staff in the Institute-University system as well as doctors, medical staff and researchers interested in the field of oncology and primary medicine body.
In the context of modern medicine moving towards early detection, personalized treatment, and minimization of invasive procedures, liquid biopsy is becoming one of the most promising approaches. Through the analysis of molecular biomarkers, especially cfDNA and ctDNA, this approach opens up new opportunities in screening, diagnosis, disease progression monitoring as well as assessing cancer treatment response.
The workshop was organized to update and systematize in-depth knowledge and pioneering research trends in liquid biopsy; at the same time, improve the capacity to analyze and interpret molecular biology data, promote interdisciplinary research thinking and optimize the applicability to clinical practice.
The workshop consists of 3 in-depth topics:
Research on the application of Fragmentomics in liquid biopsy for early detection and monitoring of cancer led by Dr. Nguyen Dinh Khac Chan – Research Specialist, Center for Biomedical Research and Application, Phan Chau Trinh University presented.
The thesis focused on the role of cfDNA as a biomarker, the principles of fragmentomics and the potential of combining fragmentomics data with machine learning in early detection and surveillance of cancer.
ctDNA in cancer screening and early diagnosis: From research to clinical application by MSc. BSCKII. Phan Tan Thuan – Head of Line Steering Department, Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital presented.
From a clinical perspective, the topic clarifies the role of cancer screening and early diagnosis, the advances of ctDNA in diagnostic technology, as well as the issues that need to be further studied before MCED (Multi-Cancer Early Detection) methods can be widely applied in practice.
Liquid biopsy of brain tumors: From current evidence to application in neurosurgery presented by Dr. Dinh Thi Phuong Hoai – Lecturer, Neurosurgeon, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University.
Through clinical cases and up-to-date evidence, the topic provides a specific perspective on liquid biopsy in brain tumors, especially the role of biomarkers in supporting diagnosis and patient management.
